Women Cryptocurrency Investors Are Gaining Momentum – The Crypto-world Reacts

The cryptocurrency industry is fast changing in its norms; women are becoming major players with the number of women investing in cryptocurrency toppling over the last one year.

In a recent study by London Block Exchange (LBX), it was discovered the number of women making new cryptocurrency investments doubled in the last six months. During its commissioning by LBX, Opinium Research LLP was charged with an initial task to carry out online research that will cover 2,000 U.K. adults for four days between 13th and 17th May 2018. Previous research had been undertaken in December last year that showed increased interest in cryptocurrency investment by women with the figure rising to up to 13% while the men were beginning to show reduced interest. The research in May, however, showed that the figure of women interested in investing in cryptocurrency has climbed to an all-time high of 20%. Quite surprisingly, the number of men continued to level out, with no significant increase within the time frame.

Nydia Zhang, co-founder of Social Alpha Foundation in a recent interview with CoinJournal said that it was a wonderful thing to know that women are increasingly participating in cryptocurrencies, suggesting that the biggest attraction for women was the high demand for talent in the crypto-world. U.K. filmmaker, and producer, Shayda Frost is among such investors that have turned severe attention to cryptocurrency. The successful film producer had turned her attention from traditional saving methods which she believes do not attractive returns due to historically low-interest rates. Frost had revealed to CoinJournal of how her initial interest in investing in cryptocurrency had been dampened by her lack of sufficient knowledge to make the right decisions.

The recent research also revealed different opinions on the reasons for increased interest in women. The first was the lessened concern that women tend to show about the concept of “fear of missing out” compared to men. The research also revealed that women have more likelihood to take a collaborative approach to investing in cryptocurrencies.

Samantha Yap, founder of Yapglobal, a FinTech PR firm opined that the cryptocurrency industry is growing speedily.

Despite this research and many others pointing that at increased participation by women, it is surprising that there is still a common misconception that the industry is a men’s world.

Jenna Seiden, head of content acquisition at Ultra, a blockchain powered gaming network is of the opinion that cryptocurrency is not gender bias and that blockchain is pseudonymous. She also stated that there is no special package attracting women to cryptocurrency, but that it is instead a welcoming community to all.
