With the addition of four major cryptocurrencies to the payment platform of Skrill, the crypto world is reaching forward greatly.
Skrill is a London based e-commerce business that allows money transfer and payments via the internet. Formerly known as “Moneybookers,” the company was founded in 2001. In September 2011, the company announced to re-brand its services as Skrill. The focus of the company is to provide international transfers at a low cost.
Last week, the company announced inclusions of four major cryptocurrencies on to its platform. Skrill will add Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Litecoin (LTC) to its system.
Skrill, with a customer base of more than 25 million users, is one of the biggest online payment and money transfer businesses. Its users will now be able to transform their currency into cryptocurrencies and the other way around. The gateway currently has options for fiat currencies like USD, SGD, EUR, PLN, and many more. It is available in more than 30 countries.
The CEO of Skrill, Lorenzo Pellegrino stated, “The world of cryptocurrency trading is exciting and dynamic, and our digital wallet service very much lends itself to this environment. I’m confident that the ability to trade in cryptocurrencies quickly and easily through Skrill will appeal to consumers both now and in the future. We know many people want to experiment with cryptocurrency trading but don’t know where to start, and we’ve made the entire process very straightforward.”
However, this exchange from crypto-to-fiat and fiat-to-crypto will not be available in countries like the USA and Russia. This is due to strict regulations of cryptocurrencies in those countries. With this major step, there arises more options for other cryptocurrencies in the future. Still, it will be too earlly too predict the future of this addition of cryptocurrencies to the digital gateway.
Will there be more addition of cryptocurrenciess to Skrill? Will Skrill use cryptocurrencies as a payment method for sports betting and gambling? All we can do is to wait to find out the answers to these questions.
