Marijuana Dealer Laying Claim to His $1.8 Million Seized By The Police

Back in 2015, the Canadian law enforcement led a raid after receiving a warrant to a property that belonged to “MarijuanaIsMyMuse.” The person in question is a known marijuana dealer who used mail-order to traffic his marijuana. During the raid, the police were able to reclaim
marijuana worth over $100,000. Other than the marijuana, police also found several laptops and hard disks. In those hard disks, they seized Bitcoin worth $1.8 million.

Claim To The Property

The unnamed party, through his lawyer, tried to claim ownership of the coins, but the police turned him down saying that the hard disks were missing. The lawyer, Lolita Rudovica, noted that the client laid claim to the Bitcoin since the police could not prove that he used Bitcoin in financing the illegal marijuana business.

Sentencing Of The Marijuana Criminal

When the police found the evidence, the illegal drug dealer received a sentencing of six months. The prosecutor found out that the marijuana dealer used the dark web known as the Silk Road.

However, they are still finding it difficult to connect the marijuana business to Bitcoin. There have been some claims and concern from the people regarding Bitcoin. Since there is no easy way to track its use, there is a potential of using it to finance illegal activities. These people say that it is better to have proper regulations that will govern the use of Bitcoin.

The Growth Of Bitcoin

Bitcoin is currently the largest cryptocurrency that we have today. There have been some recent promising signs that the currency will appreciate in value by the end of this year. The number of people who have knowledge and information regarding this currency has been growing.

Caution From Experts

Finance experts have also joined a community that has concerns with the use of Bitcoin. There are expectations that the case involving MarijuanaIsMyMuse is just a tip of the iceberg. If there were a thorough investigation, the police would be able to uncover many illegal businesses that are run and financed by cryptocurrencies.

There are expectations of the case dragging since all the parties want to prove that they are right. It has been going on for the last three years, and there are no signs for it to stop. It is still early to decide the case as both parties are working hard towards it.
