Want To See A Movie At A Thai Theater? You’re Welcome To Pay In Bitcoin Cash (BCH)

Slow and steady win the race, they say. It’s pretty much the strategy that Bitcoin Cash (BCH) employs in earning its currency’s acceptence worldwide. Indeed, many still use the crypto-asset chiefly for investment and hardly for the payment of goods and services. Truly, it is a challenge because the purpose for its development is to serve multiple purposes. Though, there’s cheerful news for BCH members in Thailand who love to watch flicks in theaters.

The Big News

Major Cineplex, the biggest movie theater chain in Thailand, is set to start accepting cryptocurrencies like BCH. This is becoming possible as a result of a recent partnership agreement between the theater firm and Rapidzpay, a Swiss payment firm. The deal will see Rapidzpay deploy its point of sale (POS) platform to theaters to enable moviegoers to pay for films they want to watch and purchase popcorn using virtual and fiat currencies.

BCH And Other Cryptocurrencies Accepted

Major Cineplex has yet to make an official statement about the particular digital currencies they will aceept. The Rapidzpay app, which runs on Android and iOS, supports major cryptos such as Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin (BTC) and Litecoin (LTC). This is happening on the heels of Thai Securities and Exchange Commission announcing that the agency approved BCH and six other major cryptocurrencies to trade on their local crypto exchanges. The agency is the major cryptocurrency regulator in Thailand. The watchdog also said that interested crypto-asset businessmen and women can apply for a regulatory go-ahead.

Movie Chain Info

Major Cineplex came into being in December 1995. The theater has about 678 screens and the management is working round the clock to increase it to 1,000 screens by 2020. The company boasts 143 theaters with 43 of them in the city of Bangkok. Aside from having the biggest cinema theater in all of Thailand, Major Cineplex has the biggest multiplex in Thailand. It features the Paragon Cineplex of 5000 seats, 16 screens, and an IMAX Theater.

Future Plans

In addition to accepting more cryptocurrencies, Major Cineplex plans to expand its scope. They want to lead a cashless financial ecosystem, according to Chanya Tamronweenichai, the company’s marketing director.
