One of the sectors that is keenly adopting digital currencies is the adult content and entertainment industry. This is part of the sector’s efforts to incentivize users to consume content as well as provide payment options that offer both privacy, anonymity, and convenience. Now a website owned by Stormy Daniels, a porn star and stripper who recently got in the news for allegedly having an affair with President Donald Trump and for which she received a hush payment of $130,000, has partnered with Vice Industry Token (VIT) with a view to rewarding visitors by giving them digital tokens. The partnership will see Stormy, whose real name is Stephanie Cliffords, add VIT to her website.
The digital token was developed with the adult industry in mind. VITs will accumulate in the accounts of users as they continue to consume content. It will also be possible to continue acquiring premium content using the token and the tokens can also be transferred to other websites which already have support for it.
“Deciding to incorporate cryptocurrency into my clients’ adult sites was a no brainer for me. With VIT, everyone is going to make money – from the users on my sites, to myself and the performers,” Rob Murray, the president of Ottawa, Canada-based firm Darkreach Communications, a company which manages Stormydaniels.com as well other adult sites which are subscription-based.
According to Vice Industry Token’s chief executive officer, Stuart Duncan, the team behind the virtual currency had been making extra efforts to ensure that by the time of the launch of their platform the network of sites will be large enough. Duncan added that there were more partners the firm was going to sign up in a bid to grow the ecosystem.
Earlier in the year adult entertainment sector giant Mindgeek which owns such websites as Brazzers and Pornhub disclosed that it would be accepting the Verge (XVG) digital currency as a means of payment for its premium offerings. Recently however Pornhub disclosed that it would also try out the Vice Industry Token besides Verge as a method of payment.
In a casting call that was announced last week for this year’s Pornhub games, the porn site and adult film production firm known as HoloFilm Production announced that the top three female performers would receive monetary prizes in the VIT tokens. The top performer would get VITs equivalent to $10,000 while the second-placed performer would get VIT tokens equivalent to $7,500.
