Privacy-centric cryptocurrency Monero (XMR) has been added to the platform of blockchain technology startup Circle Invest. Monero now becomes the second privacy-centric digital coin to be added to the platform in the recent past. Last month Zcash (ZEC) was introduced to the platform allowing users and traders to purchase and invest in the virtual currency. While making the announcement Circle Invest drew attention to its growing coin collection.
“This brings our investable crypto assets to a total of 7 coins, making Circle Invest one of the only platforms you can invest instantly and seamlessly in the widest breadth of coins by using your bank account,” wrote Circle Invest in a blog post.
Besides Zcash and Monero the other virtual coins that are available on the app of Circle Invest include ethereum classic (ETC), Litecoin (LTC), bitcoin Cash (BCH), bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
Circle Invest now becomes one of the first regulated brokerages to support Monero which has gained a reputation for dark web activity. The chief executive officer and founder of Circle Invest, Jeremy Allaire, says this will not deter the firm which is now focused on expanding operations to Asia.
The code of coinhive is written in JavaScript and is dedicated to the mining of monero. It runs in the background when an internet browser has been opened. Though coinhive isn’t malware it can be injected by bad actors into unsuspecting code in what is referred to as cryptojacking. This is with the aim of mining the monero digital coin without the knowledge of victims.
