DISH has added Bitcoin Cash (BCH) as an alternate payment option. The announcement was made on August 9th, 2018. This aim is to improve the customer experience and meet specific needs. It is in addition to the existing Bitcoin payment method. Besides, DISH is now selecting BitPay as a new blockchain payment processor.
DISH Migrating To BitPay Payment Processor
Earlier in 2014, DISH had selected Coinbase as a payment partner. Now the company has decided to partner with BitPay. BitPay helps DISH subscribers to make easy payment. Most importantly, it helps DISH to get the amount in US dollars.
The added payment option serves the customers who want to do business in a new way. John Swieringa, EVP and CEO of DISH said: “We have a steady volume of customers paying with cryptocurrency each month, and BitPay will allow us to continue offering more choice and convenience to our customers.”
How Does It Work?
The customers can pay with BCH or BTC. In addition, select the one-time payment method via the DISH website or DISH’s Hopper DVR. Consequently, BitPay will exchange the funds into U.S dollars immediately. This avoids the risk of volatility.
DISH Network Corporation
DISH Network Corporation was created in 1980. It is now a fortune 250 company. The company serves 13 million customers and employs 17,000 in the US. It made a profit of $14 billion with stocks listed on the NASDAQ.
DISH leads the pay-TV industry and has several subsidiaries. Most importantly, it specializes in streaming Sling TV and satellite DISH TV. It also channelizes advertising solutions and a national in-home installation workforce.
BitPay
BitPay is the world’s largest Bitcoin payment processor. Moreover, the company has offices in Europe, North America, and South America. It helps thousands of Bitcoin users every day with a highly secure payment platform.
Indeed, it has raised over $70 million from leading investors. Besides that, it has rich experience in blockchain and Bitcoin payments.
Sonny Singh, CCO with BitPay said, “Our goal for DISH Network is a seamless transition to BitPay so all customers who are currently paying for services with Bitcoin continue to have the option to pay with Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash.”
Therefore, the added Bitcoin Cash payment option and the association with BitPay would help DISH in many ways. The subscribers will enjoy the added payment feature for sure.
