Moldova recently hosted a blockchain and cryptocurrency conference. The event was held at the Academy of Economic. The country’s first token as well as cryptocurrency exchange was launched. The conference also provided a platform for people to discuss various ways blockchain technology can be used.
Drachmae Market is the cryptocurrency exchange which provides cryptocurrencies enthusiasts an easy way of transacting various virtual currencies. The cryptocurrency exchange offers support for eight fiat currencies, including the dollar, Moldavian Leu, and Russian Ruble. Some of the cryptocurrencies that people can trade and exchange include Bitcoin (BTC) Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Monero (XMR).
The exchange has already been given the go-ahead by the National Bank of Moldova to do banking even though there is no legal framework for cryptocurrencies. The exchange will have to present money flow data and comply with AML and CFT law. According to Drachmae Market founder, “Lee Gibson Grant” the exchange will address the needs of both retail and professional investors.

The country’s Central Bank is interested in Blockchain technology because it is expected to have a big impact on various sectors going forward. Greenberg expects the technology to revolutionize the financial sector. Moldova joins a small list of countries that have shown signs of accepting cryptocurrencies as a means of legal tender.
